How ratings work
- Only signed-in members can rate, once per place or itinerary. You cannot rate your own itineraries.
- We do not check that the person visited the place or followed the itinerary. Ratings are not reviewed before publication.
- Everyone can change or remove their rating at any time. We do not contact the authors of ratings.
- We only show the average (rounded to one decimal) and the number of ratings, never who rated or when, and only from 3 ratings.
- The first rating of a place or an itinerary earns 5 contribution points (at most 10 ratings counted a day), whatever the rating given: these points raise your rank in « Me » and have no monetary value. Nobody is paid to rate, and Cap Calme does not rate anything itself.
- Nearby itineraries are sorted by average rating (from 3 ratings), then by number of ratings, then from newest to oldest.
- In the Explore gallery, within 30 nm of your home port, of your position if you give it, or else of the centre of the last area you looked at on the map, places with at least 3 ratings come first, from best to lowest rated; the others follow, nearest first. Without any of these, the gallery shows a selection by coast. The rating filter only shows places with at least 3 ratings.
- We remove ratings made in series, ratings from accounts created to skew an average, and ratings of a place or itinerary by someone with a direct interest in it. The member concerned is told by e-mail, with the reason.
- A rating is kept as long as the account exists. To report a doubtful rating: contact@capcalme.com.
How photos work
- Only signed-in members can send a photo of a notable place (at most 10 a day and 20 awaiting review).
- You must have taken the photo yourself, and no one may be recognisable in it. We cannot check who took a photo: we rely on your statement.
- Every photo is checked by a person on our team before it is published, normally within 7 days. We reject a photo that shows a recognisable person, a readable number plate or a private interior, that does not show the place, that you clearly did not take, or whose content is unlawful or advertising.
- If a photo is rejected, we email you the reason, and the photo is deleted. You can challenge the decision by replying to that email.
- A published photo carries the credit you chose: your first name or nickname, or « Photo by a member ». The page shows the 12 most recent photos. You remain the author of your photos; Cap Calme only has the right to publish them, as described in the box ticked when sending.
- To remove your photo, or to report a photo (copyright, person photographed, other): contact@capcalme.com, naming the place. We take it down within 72 hours during the review, and we tell its author, with the reason.
- For wrecks, only wrecks visible above water accept photos, taken from the shore or a boat. We refuse photos taken underwater and photos showing an object removed from a wreck, human remains or ammunition. Ratings and photos of wrecks earn no points.
How itineraries and shelters work
- Only signed-in members can publish an itinerary or suggest a shelter.
- An itinerary is published straight away. A shelter is checked by our team before it is published, unless it comes from a trusted contributor: a member becomes a trusted contributor automatically once 3 of their shelters have been approved.
- Your name is never shown on an itinerary or a shelter. You can edit or delete your itineraries at any time, and withdraw a shelter until it is approved; after that, write to contact@capcalme.com.
- We remove an itinerary or a shelter that is wrong, dangerous or unlawful, that is advertising, or that contains personal data. Its author can ask for the reason at contact@capcalme.com, and challenge the decision by writing to the same address.
- By publishing, you allow Cap Calme, free of charge, to display, rephrase and share this content on capcalme.com and in its apps, worldwide and for the full term of copyright, including after your account is deleted.
- To report a shelter: « Report an error » on its card, or contact@capcalme.com. To report an itinerary: contact@capcalme.com, naming it.
How ideas work
- Any visitor can suggest an idea and support others, with or without an account.
- Every idea is reviewed by a person on our team, normally within 7 days. It is then published as a title and summary written by our team, without its author's name, or attached to a similar idea already published, or set aside. The original text is never published.
- We set aside ideas unrelated to Cap Calme, advertising, abusive or unlawful content, and texts containing personal data. When you send, an automatic check refuses texts containing an email address, a phone number or a link, and automated submissions are discarded.
- When an idea is set aside, its author gets the reason on their follow-up link, in « Me », or by email if they gave one. They can challenge the decision by writing to contact@capcalme.com.
- Statuses: « Under review » (published, being looked at), « Planned », « Done » (with date and version), « Not for us » (always with the reason). Suggesting an idea does not commit us to building it.
- One support per account and per idea. Without an account, one support per browser, which we cannot verify: we show the total and the number of supporters with an account. The team supports no idea; its own ideas are marked « Suggested by the team ».
- Ideas are sorted by last update, or by number of supporters if you choose.
- By sending an idea, you agree that Cap Calme may rephrase it, publish it and freely draw on it, without compensation. Ideas and supports earn no points.
- To report a published idea: contact@capcalme.com.
- Retention and your rights: see the Privacy page.
